Preparing vector artwork for printing

A scalable SVG is a useful starting point, but colour and production requirements should be confirmed with your printer.

Why vector artwork helps

Vector paths can be resized without introducing new pixels, making them useful for logos, signs, garments and other artwork that must appear at different sizes.

Check the file before production

Automatic tracing interprets the raster source. Inspect important edges, small lettering and colour separations before treating the result as production-ready.

  1. Compare the SVG with the original at normal size.
  2. Zoom in to inspect corners and curved lettering.
  3. Open the SVG in the software used by your print provider.
  4. Confirm colour mode, spot colours, dimensions and bleed with the printer.
  5. Approve a proof before a large run.

Screen colour is not printed colour

SVG colours are commonly expressed for screens. Printing methods, inks, substrates and colour-management settings affect the final appearance, so your print provider’s specifications take priority.

Try it with your own artworkConvert locally in your browser and inspect the SVG before downloading.
